December DMing break for Dave

Post by Jordan » Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:20 am

As we discussed this past Sunday, we are likely looking at December being off-time for Dave, but still having a couple weeks we can do stuff together. Exact details may vary depending on when we finish the current combat, and whether December is enough time for Dave's planning backlog. We were discussing maybe doing some one-shots or short adventure arcs to fill that time. I know Joe was talking about Saltmarsh, which I think everyone was down for, and I mentioned possibly also running a short adventure from the Soulbound system, which is set in a heavy metal planar fantasy sort of thing.

Making this thread so we can discuss what we want to do first, what characters we might make for the Saltmarsh game (I can provide pregens for the Soulbound game, or help people come up with characters--it's a pretty simple system so I'd be willing to do some walkthroughs for that if we end up doing the one shot for that).

I don't know much about Saltmarsh, but am leaning towards a wizard for it. I would play a heavily armored fighter, but the only thing I do know about Saltmarsh is that boats are somehow involved, and heavy armor seems like a bad idea for that.

I'm leaning toward monk. Maybe warlock. Almost certainly human.

There are plenty of races who have a swimming speed, breathe water, don't breathe, hold breath, or some combination.
Triton
Sea Elf
Aquatic Half-Elf
Water Genasi
Lizardmen
Tortle
Warforged
Simic Hybrid
Vedalken
Locathah
Grung
I'll probably play one of these, not sure which.

Here's a Campaign link for content sharing, etc.

https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/15535672590742876

A group that would be comfortable participating in a little bit of local politics of the region (which is a Greyhawk setting location) in the town of Saltmarsh, where I'd run The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. I can post the adventure hooks & a summary for folks if no one wants to risk reading stuff for spoilers. The first adventure is short, and requires no real aquatic anything. On completion of that, the follow up adventure, racial aquatic abilities could be good, depending on the approach taken. For future adventures, if those were to happen, an ability like that might be more useful, but fear of drowning is essentially unfounded.

Here is the link to my list as of now. I added all the stuff Liz put in here to the bag of holding.

Items which have been claimed are highlighted. All other things are assumed to be in the BoH.

I will do my best to make sure this is edited live, during sessions.
